Our 5th Annual Deaf-Themed Art Contest

Join Ohio Deaf Friends of the Library, Ohio Hands & Voices, and Advocates for Kids for this fun family event at the Columbus Art Museum on Sunday, March 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Left, Kip Bostelman, 9 years old, 3rd grade. For the first time, his Deaf Grandmum was able to call him through Sorenson Wavello, with an interpreter, to say Happy 9th Birthday! 

Right, Toby Muhloland, 11 years old, 5th grade. State School for the Deaf on Town Street in Columbus, OH. This building was constructed in late 1860's and used until 1953.

Left, Jonah King, 9 years old 3rd grade, he is deaf and he depends on commiunicating iwth his eyes instead of his ears. 

Middle, Skanda Ravindra, 13 years old, 8th grade. He struggles to hear and has symptoms of slight deafness.  Sometimes a simple sign will help him to understand what a person is trying to convey. 

Right, Madeleine Fry, 7 years old, 1st grade.  In this picture the hands are showing us the sign language of the colorful rainbow.
